Fire certs a must for hotels

KUCHING: Established hotels must have Fire Certificates (FC) to ensure that the buildings are safe.  

State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) director Khirudin Drahman said so far, there were 645 FC holders in Sarawak.

“In Kuching, there are more than 200 FC holders and 50 of them are hotels,” he said when officiating at a ceremony to present Fire Certificates at UCSI Hotel here on Tuesday (Oct 6).

Earlier, UCSI Hotel Sdn Bhd received its Fire Certificate while nine other premises had theirs renewed.

They are Kuching Waterfront Lodge, Kuching Park Hotel, Hap Seng Reality Sdn Bhd, Telekom Malaysia, Damai Beach Resort, X-Fab Sarawak Sdn Bhd, Timberland Medical Centre, Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Plaza Merdeka Complex.

Also present at the ceremony were Bomba Kuching Zone chief, Henderi Ardimansyah and Bomba Fire Safety Division assistant director PgKB I Mohamad Fauzi Mohd Kifli.
