SIBU: A lorry suffered damages to its driver’s cabin and engine due to a fire yesterday.

The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre received a call on the incident, which occurred at Upper Lanang Road here, at 12.46pm.

Seven firemen, led by PBK (KUP) Muhd Sufyian Bin Abdullah, from the Sibu Fire and Rescue Station were despatched to the scene.

The owner and workers of a nearby workshop managed to control the fire from spreading using a fire extinguisher as well as a waterjet upon firefighters’ arrival.

Meanwhile, the fire personnel used a stream of auxiliary hoses to fully put out the fire.

The fire had, by then, completely razed the driver’s cabin and engine.
