MUKAH: A rumah wakaf cum store belonging to Mukah Tua Pek Kong temple was destroyed in a fire on Thursday night.
The fire which occurred at about 8.20pm damaged most parts of the building, situated next to the temple at Jalan Boyan here.
Mukah Fire and Rescue Department in its statement on Friday, said a distress call was received at 8.30pm and deployed six firemen and a fire engine to the scene. They were assisted by personnel from other agencies including the Civil Defence Force (APM), People’s Volunteer Corps and Sarawak Electric Supply Corporation (Sesco).
The fire was brought under control in over ten minutes.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
