SIBU: The top floor of a shophouse in Jalan Salim, which was turned into a quarters for six workers, was completely destroyed in a fire on Monday (Jan 10).
Fortunately, no one was injured in the blaze as the occupants were out.
Firefighters from the Sibu Central and Sungai Merah stations were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call around 9.20am.
Upon arriving, the top floor of the building was burning and they proceeded to put out the flames, utilising a crane, among others.
They successfully extinguished the blaze and proceeded to ensure that the location was safe.
The cause of the fire and the losses incurred are still under investigation.
