KUCHING: KPJ Kuching Specialist Hospital (KcSH) collaborated with the Tabuan Jaya Bomba team to conduct a fire drill at the hospital   at 10am yesterday as part of a yearly exercise.

A fire was actually started in the Operating Theatre area.

The Kuching Specialist Emergency Response Staff were stationed at all the fire escapes to assist in the speedy and efficient evacuation.

Meanwhile, the nurses and care assistants guided and aided the patients in the evacuation as well  as accorded priority to those who were bedridden and   required extra care.

Overall, it took the Bomba team a total of 8 minutes to arrive at the scene  after being notified of the fire.

The whole fire drill was executed successfully and efficiently and after the Bomba team announced that the building was safe to enter again, all patients were assisted back to their respective care units.

Thereafter, the KcSH staff   involved in the fire drill and the Bomba team held a post mortem session to discuss ways of  improving  the evacuation.
