MIRI: A 16-door longhouse at Kampung Long Kerangan in Baram, was destroyed by fire last night (Mar 6).
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) assistant director of operations Henderi Ardimansyah said they were notified of the incident through a WhatsApp group around 10.52 pm.
However, it is uncertain when the fire actually started.
“Firefighters from Marudi station and
Zone 6 Bomba investigating team are currently en route to the scene to assess the situation.
“The latest update indicates that the fire engulfed a 16-door longhouse. The distance from the station to the scene is about 98km via logging road from Long Lama town,” he said.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the fire; only properties were lost in the blaze.
The exact cause of the fire and losses incurred are yet to be known.
