KUCHING: The Ministry of Education (MOE) is taking immediate follow-up actions on the 3am fire incident on Saturday (Jan 8) that has affected part of SMK Balai Ringin in Serian.

Its minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin said that he was informed of the fire which involved the school’s teachers room and administration block.

Alhamdulillah, no casualties were reported in the incident,” he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Jan 8).

He mentioned that the MOE was in the midst of obtaining the complete information on the damage caused on the school due to the fire.

InsyaAllah, we will do our best for the people of SMK Balai Ringin,” he said.

Radzi also added that he has once visited the school during his visit to Sri Aman last year.

During his visit to SMK Balai Ringin sometime in October last year, the minister had seen for himself the facilities and infrastructure of the school.

Following that, he said that the construction of a new hostel block for the school is in full swing.

Once completed, he said it would definitely provide more comfort for the students.
