TATAU: Two families became homeless yesterday morning when a fire destroyed a wooden block of workers’ quarters along Jalan Tatau-Sibu.
No injuries or casualties were reported as the tenants managed to evacuate safely.
The Fire and Rescue Department promptly responded to an emergency call received around 1 am, dispatching firemen from the Tatau station to the scene.
Upon arrival, they encountered a raging fire that had completely destroyed the quarters.
It took the team over two hours to extinguish the flames, finally bringing the situation under control at 3.30 am. Once the area was deemed safe, they concluded their operation and returned to their station.
