Fire leaves five homeless

MIRI: A house with eight units of storage rooms that were used for storing rice grains in Long Bedian was destroyed in a blaze today, leaving five people homeless.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.

According to acting Miri Fire and Rescue Zone 6 chief Ahmad Nizam Sapaiee, a team of firemen from Marudi was deployed to the scene this morning upon receiving an alert call at 11.35am.

It took about four hours to reach the scene. By the time the team reached the site, the premises and the stored items were destroyed.
