KUCHING: The kitchen of a two-storey house at Taman Sourabaya Indah here, was badly damaged in a fire last night (Apr 20).
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the 7.51pm incident.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Petra Jaya and Padungan stations were dispatched to the scene, about 6km away, after receiving an emergency call.
Upon arrival, they found that the fire involved some appliances in the kitchen and it had caused 80 per cent damages to the room.
Prompt extinguishing works managed to control the flames from spreading to the living room.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation and departed back to their stations.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
