SERIAN: A row of three-storey shophouses at Jalan Serian By Pass, was destroyed in an early morning fire on Saturday (Mar 27).
Firemen from Serian and Siburan stations were despatched to the scene upon receiving a distress call at 5.40am.
Assisted by volunteer firefighters from Balai Ringin, they managed to put out the blaze several hours later.
The blaze completely destroyed the ground floor of the building which houses a departmental store while the upper floor was partially burned.
There were no report of casualty. Loss to properties and the cause of the fire are yet to be ascertained.
Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem rushed to the scene after he received an alert pertaining the incident.
