KUCHING: Fire razed a construction company office at Green Road here yesterday.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department, there were no reports of casualties and the blaze was quickly brought under control.
The department received a distress call about the incident at 3.18pm and quickly despatched firefighters from its Batu Lintang and Padungan fire stations to the scene.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found that the fire was blazing from within the office. The firemen initially faced slight difficulties in their rescue efforts when the door could not be open due to pressure from within caused by the blaze.
The firemen smashed the windows of the building in their effort to douse off the flames which is believed to have started in the filing room on the second floor of the four-storey commercial unit.
The blaze caused a minor traffic congestion along Green Road and junction to Rubber Road West.
