SIBU: The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRC) Sibu branch donated food items and used clothes to the four families who lost their homes in a fire in Kampung Sentosa recently.

Its chairman Penghulu Chua Hiong Kee said MRCS Sibu branch donated 10 sacks of clothes, 30 blankets, four boxes of mineral water, four packets of rice, four boxes of food, face masks and hand sanitisers to the fire victims.

“It is our hope that all the fire victims would be patient and persevere in facing the situation,” he said after the presentation ceremony of the donation.

On October 3, at 8.45pm, three houses inhabited by the four families located at Lot 238, Lot 239 and Lot 240 in the village were gutted by fire.

The victims managed to escape to safety and no injuries were reported.

Besides MRCS Sibu branch, various other parties and non-governmental organisations also donated to the Kampung Sentosa fire victims.
