MARUDI: A six-week old stray kitten got stuck inside a bay of car engine on Friday.

This prompted the vehicle’s owner, a female driver, to quickly seek help from Marudi fire station.

According to Zone 6 Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, the car owner arrived at the fire station parking area around 2.30pm Friday and she immediately alerted the firefighters on the problem.

Law said the kitten was noted to be inside the car engine bay by the vehicle’s owner, after she kept hearing meow sounds from inside the car. This was upon returning to her vehicle which was parked in front of a premises in Marudi.

He said, in order to release the trapped kitten, firemen had to spray water into the bay of the car engine.

It was eventually rescued unharmed.

“The kitten was safety returned to its mother by the car owner,” said Law.
