KUCHING: The State Fire and Rescue Department personnel on Sunday assisted in carrying out post-flood clean ups in three villages that were affected by the floods.

The villages are Kampung Rantau Panjang, Kampung Sinar Budi Lama and Kampung Tengah Sungai.

Its director Khirudin Drahman said the clean-up activities involved 41 personnel and four fire engines. They were assisted by personnel from Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad (CMS).

“We carry out this clean up so that public places such as mosques and community halls are repaired, restored and can be used by the community.

“Whereas for private homes, the clean-up can be done by the owners themselves,” he said when met by reporters at one of the villages.

He added that the department was ready to consider requests from the village development and security committee (JKKK) to assist in cleaning up homes inhabited by the elderly and the disabled (OKU).

The cleaning up activity will continue today in places that have been severely affected by the floods.
