BINTULU: Rescuers came to the aid of a 55-year-old-man after he was trapped in his four-wheel-drive vehicle following a collision along Jalan SGP Samalaju, here.

The 6.40am mishap this morning saw a Toyota Hilux colliding with a Nissan Almera, causing the victim’s vehicle to crash on the road shoulder.

The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a team of rescuers was directed to the scene after a distress call was received at 6.45am.

“When they arrived at the location, the victim was still stuck in the driver’s seat of his vehicle.

“Firefighters used rescue equipment to extricate the trapped victim and the operation ended at 7.42am,” it said.

He said the victim was handed over to paramedics at the scene and transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital.

“The driver of the Nissan Almera, a 23-year-old man, was unscathed in the incident,” he added.
