KUCHING: WTK Group of Companies has donated RM2 million to the state government to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said WTK’s accountant Liu Chee Kiong presented the cheque to State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at Wisma Bapa Malaysia yesterday.

“Thank you very much to Datuk Seri Patrick Wong and Datuk Wong Kie Yik of WTK Group of Companies for donating the money,” Sim said in his Facebook post.

He said he was proud that during the current crisis, fellow Sarawakians are stepping forward without conditions or hesitation to help the state and federal governments.

“A time like now requires us to pull our resources together,” he said.

On another occasion, Sim said LONGi Kuching Sdn Bhd had handed thousands of face masks to the committee.

“They have donated 97 3M face shields, 1,600 N95 face masks and 2,000 3M N95 (carbon) face masks. I thank them for having donated their personal protection equipment (PPE) used for their ‘Clean Room’ operation,” he said.

Sim said the committee would help coordinate the distribution of donations for Sarawak General Hospital, Sibu Hospital, Bintulu Hospital and Miri Hospital.
