BAU: The first batch of teenagers, numbering 315, received their first dose of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine at SMK Singai near here on Thursday (Sept 9).

They comprised mainly those aged 16 and 17, and those aged 12 to 15 with comorbidities.

They will get their second dose on Sept 30.

Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep was at the vaccination centre to scrutinise the vaccination process.

Four schools were selected to be the vaccination centres (PPVs) for the whole district and the programme is scheduled to end on Oct 3.

Aside from SMK Singai, the other PPVs are SMK Bau, SMK Lake and SMK Paku.

SMK Bau will carry out the first dose vaccination on Saturday (Sept 11) while the second dose is Oct 1.

SMK Lake’s schedule is Sept 11 and 12 for first dose, and Oct 2 and 3 for second dose, while SMK Paku to be used on Sept 11 and 12 for first dose; Oct 2 and 3 for second dose.

To date, 2,932 teenagers have been identified for the vaccination campaign. Of the figure, 2,842 are students while 90 are non-students.

Should any of the students not be present during the stipulated time due to travel restrictions imposed by the enhanced movement control order or home quarantine order, then their respective schools would submit their names to the district health department.
