KUCHING: Befrienders Kuching will be holding its first mental health carnival themed “#LifeIsPrecious” at Vivacity Megamall Kuching from April 12–14.

The carnival is aimed at promoting Befrienders Kuching’s services as well as mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

“We will also partnering with local non-profit organisations and mental health agencies to conduct activities which will be open to the public,” Befrienders Kuching  said in a pre-event press statement yesterday.

Some of the organisations involved are Mental Health Association of Sarawak, Hospital Sentosa, Story Kuching, Faculty of Cognitive Science and Human Development from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and many more.

Besides the booth activities, a variety of activities will be happening on stage including stage performances and story-telling sessions, it added.

Befrienders Kuching is also setting up a donation box for anyone who would like to donate to it to help fund its operational costs. All proceeds from the carnival will go towards operating its phone lines and e-mail services as well as funding future outreach activities in schools and the general public.
