KUCHING: The Fast and Folding Challenge 2022 was successfully held at the Kuching Civic Centre here yesterday (June 11).

Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu thanked the Sarawak State Cycling Association and Le Park Cycling Club for assisting his ministry in organising the competition which was being held for the first time.

In his speech at the event, he revealed that more than 110 participants participated in this inaugural competition, which included four categories, namely, Men’s Open (1.3km – 8 laps), Novice (1.3km – 4 laps), BMX (400m), and Team Relay for 2 men and 1 woman (800m).

Rentap also advised the participants to always ensure and take care of their safety during the competition.

“It is hoped that such competition will continue to be held throughout Sarawak in order to produce more cycling athletes who will represent Sarawak and Malaysia in the future,” he said.

Rentap added that in keeping with the ministry’s vision of “Sports for All,” his ministry was committed to promoting healthy lifestyle and healthy competitions among cyclists throughout Sarawak.
