KUCHING: It is hoped that the newly elected Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun and his deputy Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said will be able to carry their duty with full trust, dedication and effectively.
Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar also took the opportunity to congratulate the duo on their appointment.
“The first day of the Parliamentary session went smoothly despite being a ‘heated’ one when the motion for the (then) Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ari Md Yusof and his deputy, Nya Kor Ming to vacate their post was being debated,” he said in a Facebook post today (July 13).
He said after the vote, a total of 111 MPs supported it, while another 109 MPs rejected. And there was no vote on the motion for Nga to vacant his post because he had resigned before the motion was tabled.
“This is the first success of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government. I am confident that the further steps will be a success too,” said the Santubong MP.
