KUCHING: Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan is confident that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government can deliver projects particularly in benefiting and subsequently improve the socio-economy of the rural communities in the state.
He acknowledged that it is a daunting task in bringing development to the rural areas, but believed that with a team under GPS, it is able to push forward and achieve better results and improve livelihood in the rural areas.
“We will bring more development especially on social economy, infrastructure and internet connectivity.
“As these are all from the people like the rural areas in Katibas where they want to see these developments.
“Therefore, we hope and believe we can improve the situation in the rural areas,” he said in a press conference at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex on Monday (Feb 14).
He added the developments included providing more basic infrastructure such as roads, electricity and internet connectivity.
“Most importantly is to improve the socio economy of the rural population and this is a crucial matter to us in the rural areas,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tanjung Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan said he will continue to be the voice of the youth in his constituency and those throughout the state.
“The youth of today are not like those from the past generations, instead they are more demanding and have their own aspirations.
“Therefore, the youth must not be left out but we must bring their aspirations to the planning and formulating policies in the state,” he said.
Lidam and Azizul are among the 18 first-term assemblyperson of GPS who won in the 12th State Election.
