KUCHING: In light of the Christmas spirit, Hope Place Kuching gave 60 new roof pieces as a Christmas gift to a family in Santubong.

The recipient, Ho Bee Beng, a fisherman, lives with his wife in a stilted wooden house at the river mouth of Santubong River.

Kelvin Wan, founder of the NGO noted that the roof of the couple’s house leaked which had worsened due to the monsoon.

Therefore, several public donors were kind and generous enough to donate new roofing to the couple.

“Hope Place thanks all the donors who were eager to share the joy of Christmas with others this year.

“I’m so grateful to everyone involved out there, who are willing to care of one another and help when in need. This has inspired my team and I to help change and improve the lives of those in need in our community,” he said in a statement today.

He mentioned that since the beginning of this month, Hope Place received an abundance of Christmas gifts from the general public.
