KUCHING: Sarawak Fishermen Association (Persatuan Nelayan Negeri Sarawak — Penesa) has launched its new website during an event at Damai Beach Resort, here yesterday.

The website’s launching ceremony was officiated at by the Malaysian Fishery Development Board director-general Jamaludin Othman.

Developed with the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) in mind, the website is a new approach at combining traditional manufacturing processes and technology such as the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve automation, communication and use of real-time data.

The website aims to provide exposure to Penesa and Regional Fishermen Association (PNK) as well as to provide information regarding ongoing projects, products, job opportunities and the latest news about the association.

It also serves as a platform for fishermen to advertise their products.

“We hope the development of the website will reduce the marketing supply chain between the fishermen and customers,” said Jamaludin during the launching ceremony.

“The long marketing supply chain has been plaguing our markets and we believe that the existence of the website would reduce this problem and provide better prices to the customers,” he added.
