KUCHING: Fire razed a car workshop at Jalan Batu Kawa here destroying five cars parked inside early this morning.
The State Fire Department operations centre dispatched firemen from Batu Lintang and Padungan stations to the scene after receiving a distress call around 6.55am.
The firefighters managed to put out the blaze in about half an hour and prevented it from completely engulfing the workshop.
There were no reports of casualties or injuries in the incident.
The cause of the fire and loss to properties are yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile in Lawas, a store at the second floor of a shophouse was destroyed in a fire last Friday evening.
Firefighters from Lawas station were rushed to the scene and managed to put out the blaze before it could spread to other units of the shophouse.
There were also no reports of injuries while the cause of the fire is being investigated.
