MIRI: Five local men were detained in connection with an attack inside an eatery premises in Lopeng, Jalan Cahaya here on March 26.
In the attack, a foreigner, an Australian man was injured and received 13 stitches on his head and left hand following the incident.
The attack occurred at 10.30pm.
All five suspects were arrested around 9.30pm, during an operation dubbed ‘Ops Cantas’ held on April 4.
It was reported, that on March 26, the suspects aged between 18 and 32 allegedly attacked the 60-year-old victim at the premises before fleeing off the scene.
Prior to the incident, the victim and a group of friends were dining at the premises when they were suddenly confronted by the suspects.
All suspects have been remanded for three days until April 8 to facilitate police investigation on the case.
The offence is framed under Section 148 of the Penal Code for riot.
