Five errant individuals slapped with fines

KUCHING: Sarawak police have issued five compounds to errant individuals for failing to comply with Covid-19 public place standard operating procedure (SOP).

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Kuching recorded two compounds while Sarikei, Simunjan and Betong, one each.

“On Monday (Nov 23), 6,538 vehicles were inspected at 10 roadblocks throughout Kuching District. This brings the numbers of cumulative vehicles inspected to 108,544.”

No vehicles were ordered to turn back and the number of vehicles ordered to do so, since Nov 9, remains at 613.

The Ministry of Local Government and Housing issued 126 verbal, written, and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils.

On SOP compliance monitoring, enforcement teams inspected 1,340 premises throughout Sarawak.

These included 296 restaurants, supermarkets (129), hawker stalls (125), banks (87), public markets (76), places of worship (57), leisure places (39), government offices (19), construction sites (13), factories (15), and others (484).

Under Ops Benteng, a total of 1,444 vehicles were inspected at seven roadblocks in six districts – two in Lawas, and one each in Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
