LIMBANG: A Penan family of five was rendered homeless after their double-storey house in Kampung Long Adang was destroyed in a fire on Thursday (July 1).

Limbang fire chief Clarence D. Primus Tiandun said that no casualties or injuries were reported during the 3.15pm incident.

“The family managed to get out to safety during the incident.

“They did not sustain any injuries but they did lose their home to the fire,” he said.

He added that he received information pertaining to the incident by Rumah Baru village chief Bujang Nyaru.

To reach the scene, firemen had to travel about seven to eight hours from Limbang town.

They have to go off road through a logging route as well as going through two tributaries.

If it is raining, vehicles cannot pass through and they can face the risk of landslides on hilly rickshaws.

A team has been deployed to the scene to conduct fire investigation works.
