Five injured as car crashes into roadside ditch

SARIKEI: Five persons in a car were injured when a car they were travelling in crashed into a ditch at Kampung Kerapa, Jalan Selalang last Friday (Apr 2).

Three women passengers sustained severe injuries while two men including the driver suffered minor injuries in the incident which happened around 3.10pm.

Firemen from Sarikei were immediately despatched to the scene after they received a distress call.

All five victims aged between 57 and 69, were extricated from the vehicle which landed on its side in the ditch.

The victims were taken to Sarikei Hospital for treatment.

It is understood that the car was heading to Pusa from Sarikei when the incident occurred. It is not immediately known what caused the accident.
