SERIAN: Five drug addicts were rounded up in two separate operations in Jalan Mentung Merbau and Kampung Koran.
Serian OCPD DSP Aswandy Anis said the raids on Monday were carried out following public tip-off and surveillance by narcotics police.
“The first raid carried out around 10.35pm in Jambatan Sungai Baruh, Jalan Mentung Merbau, the team detained a man and conducted a body search.
“They found a packet containing crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine weighing 0.63 grammes.
“The second raid was carried out at 11.30pm at a house in Kampung Koran. Four men were detained and the team seized seven translucent packages containing crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine weighing 5.30 grammes,” he said in a statement.
DSP Aswandy added that all five tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine abuse. The suspects also have records for drug abuse and criminal activities.
All suspects have been remanded for four days at Serian District Police Headquarters to facilitate investigation under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
