SIBU: Five more Service Sarawak Centres (SSC) will be set up in the state next year.

Speaking at a press conference after declaring open the Sibu SSC at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) here, State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion said the new centres will be in Serian, Sarikei, Lawas, Limbang and Bintulu.

“We are in the planning stages of getting these new centres located in government buildings.”

SSC, he explained, was a one-stop centre for the public to do multiple transactions.

“Previously at UTC, if people wanted to pay their utility bills, they would have to go to the respective counters of the agency. If there are five transactions, you need to go to five different counters,” he said.

“But with SSC, all transactions can be done at one counter within five to 10 minutes.

“SSC is a one-stop, customer-centric and extremely efficient centre compared to previous UTC counters, which are department-centric,” he said.

The first SSC was launched by the chief minister in Kuching on Dec 2 last year.

“The public can even use their identity card to pay their bills at this centre. SSC is convenient. It provides multiple services, and state-wide coverage. It also saves time as there are no long queues,” he added.
