KUCHING: Five individuals received assistance from Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) under its two schemes.
General manager Datuk Abang Shibli Abang Nailie said the schemes are under the Strengthening Knowledge Tradition and Preserving Ummah’s Welfare programme where a total of RM5,190 was distributed.
“The assistance programmes are carried out throughout the year for those who are eligible and meet the requirements.
“It is also in line with the distribution guidelines approved by the Sarawak State Mufti Department to ensure that an applicant is eligible for assistance,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Feb 11).
The recipients received the assistance during a simple ceremony at the Ummah Distribution Centre (UDC).
Commenting on UDC, Abang Shibli said it is a manifestation of the improved and integrated service delivery system which has been operating from Dec 2020.
“This infrastructure was developed to bring the community together to help those in need through various platforms, including crowdfunding, e-wallets and optimising wakaf (donated) facilities,” he said.
Abang Shibli said TBS aims to ensure that those in need of assistance are being helped.
He also hoped the Muslims would continue to support TBS in its role to ensure prosperity among the community.
