KUALA LUMPUR: Telecommunication service providers are committed to supporting the government’s MADANI Economy framework through affordable connectivity and devices and will continue to work closely as an industry to further narrow the digital divide.

In a joint statement today, five telecommunication service providers said they welcome the government’s latest announcement on Pakej 5G Rahmah and Insentif Postpaid Rahmah Penjawat Awam in conjunction with Bulan Kebangsaan.

“The Pakej 5G Rahmah and Insentif Postpaid Rahmah Penjawat Awam will be launched on Aug 31, 2023. Customers are advised to check the service providers’ websites for the available packages,” it said.

The companies consist of CelcomDigi Bhd, Maxis Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd (Unifi Mobile), U Mobile Sdn Bhd and YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (Yes).

Yesterday, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil instructed all broadband Internet service providers to reduce Internet prices starting in September.

He said the matter was in line with the implementation of the Mandatory Standard on Access Pricing (MSAP), which would lead to a reduction in Internet wholesale prices and cheaper packages. – BERNAMA
