KUCHING: A development plan similar to the five-year 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) is being worked out for Tanjung Datu, its assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan said.

To achieve this, a workshop entitled ‘Lundu Development Way Forward N3 Tanjung Datu Workshop’ was held to formulate a comprehensive development plan for the constituency in the next five years.

“We will follow this plan like the 12th Malaysia Plan for five years and we will do our own assessment.

“Every two and a half years, we will look at whether the development carried out and planned in our area is running smoothly. I will support any efforts of the agencies involved in the development of Tanjung Datu which brings an impact to the constituency,” Azizul said at the workshop opening ceremony at a hotel here on Wednesday (Jan 26).

“During the three-day workshop, everyone needs to give their views and come up with a resolution that will ensure development is carried out more systematically and that there is no duplication of projects for the next five years,” he said.

He concurred with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s recent statement that government procedures should be improved to reduce red tape and implement projects smoothly, saying that Abang Johari was a farsighted leader who would make Sarawak a prosperous and developed state by 2030.

“If we fail to plan, it means we plan to fail. That is why we are holding this workshop for us to plan and work together to develop Lundu by 2030 in line with the aspirations of the chief minister,” said Azizul.

He said the workshop was a continuation of the development project workshop in Tanjung Datu organised by former Tanjung Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu since 2017.

Also present were Lundu District Officer Gustian Durani, Pemanca Bentani Suni, and Pemanca Benjamin Gersit Jais.

That night, Azizul also attended a dinner with the workshop participants and participated in the yee san prosperity toss in conjunction with the approaching Chinese New Year.
