KUCHING: The Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) has lauded the five-year development plan tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob at the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Sept 27).

SBF also expressed its support for the development of Sarawak to be given priority under the 12th Malaysia Plan where the state continues to receive between 15 to 18 percent of the total basic development allocation annually.

Its president Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg believes that this sizeable amount will be channelled to the much-needed economic sectors such as improving infrastructure and basic facilities in Sarawak particularly for better rural development.

“This generous amount is also timely as it will help Sarawak in its Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 implementation.

“We wish to see Sarawak recover from this pandemic with a stronger and more resilient economy, assured of its future prosperity with more sustainable socioeconomic development,” he said in a statement yesterday (Sept 28).

He added that SBF hopes all these could be achieved including resolving the demands under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
