KUCHING: The flagpole project located near Fort Margherita here is still in the trial phase including testing the materials used for the Sarawak flag.

According to Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, the project is currently undergoing trials and has not been officially completed.

Abdul Karim said that there have been some issues and improvements are needed for the flagpole project.

However, he noticed that the flag flying on the flagpole had been replaced when he looked out from his office. This means, he said, that if the flag gets torn in the future, it will be replaced immediately.

He said this during a press conference at Baitulmakmur II Building today (July 11).

Abdul Karim also encouraged people to have a positive outlook on the flagpole project.

After 60 years of independence, he said it’s important to appreciate the development of good infrastructure alongside iconic buildings and structures.
