MUKAH: The tentative date slated for the launch of Sungai Tellian floating market here is Dec 31and preparation is currently underway.
New Sarawak Tribune on Monday (Dec 7) discovered that site clearing had been done.
It is located near the junction of Jalan Tellian and Jalan Mukah-Balingian and is adjacent to the Lamin Dana homestay.
Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo said preparation for the launch was being arranged by three ketua kaum of Kampung Tellian Daya (Tellian Ulu), Kampung Seri Tellian (Tellian Tengah), and Kampung Tellian Tradisi as well as MukahXtra team.
“The tentative date for the launch is Dec 31, 2020,” he told New Sarawak Tribune on Monday (Dec 7).
On Wednesday (Dec 2), a working committee (comprising the parent and special taskforce) for the launch was formed, with Yussibnosh appointed as the patron of the parent committee.
Recently, when officiating at the soft launch of MukahXtra here, Yussibnosh announced that the floating market would be launched at the end of this year.
The floating market is linked to MukahXtra, a new development initiative aimed at helping this district to progress further.
The MukahXtra has seven components — XtraCulture, XtraTourism, XtraCreative, Xtraeconomy, XtraYouth, XtraLocal and XtraSafe.
