STAPANG: The street and road in Stapang bazaar by the river banks about 123 kilometres from Sibu and 95 kilometres from Bintulu yesterday suffered a landslide and were inundated by flood water as high as four feet.

The road connecting the two main towns also suffered severe damage.

However the damaged road is not the main road that connects the town of Sibu and Bintulu town. Community members are requested be calm and not to listen to rumours which are not reliable and uncertain.

Continuous rain over the past few days caused the land to be soft until it finally collapsed. The road leading to Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Buloh is also submerged by flood water and users are advised to exercise caution when using the road. Repair work is being carried out.

However, there is no report of any accident.
