MARUDI: Residents in Marudi town who were affected by flood recently have received food aid.

According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) in a news report on Friday (Feb 4), the food aid was sent by Marudi District Disaster Management Committee.

The delivery of food aid is channeled through the Marudi District Social Welfare Department by using two methods namely, boat services for residents living along Sungai Tutoh and Sungai Baram and using vehicles for those living around Marudi town.

Most residents have expressed their gratitude to the Sarawak government for the food aid provided.

Meanwhile, the flood in Marudi district since last week has not only affected the residents living near the river bank area, but also affected the economic activities in Marudi town.

As a result of the flood, traders were forced to close and suspend the operation of their premises temporarily.
