SEBUYAU: Phase 3 of the Block F flood mitigation project here is expected to be completed in the next two years.

The Block F flood mitigation project will continue from Phase 1 near the police station, towards Sebuyau market and Sungai Galur until behind the stall area.

Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi was briefed by Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) Samarahan Division about the contract offer and the start of the flood mitigation project.

Julaihi, who is also Sebuyau assemblyman, witnessed the handover of the contract offer by DID engineer Wndee Reduan to Jurudaya Construction Sdn Bhd director Zaifi Yahya, last Saturday (Jan 22).

The project costing RM19.9 million will be completed in the next two years or in 24 months commencing Jan 20 this year.

“This means the project for Block F Phase 1, 2 and 3 in Sebuyau have been fully handed over to the contractor.

“Block F will help control and prevent overflow of sea water during king tides. It is hoped that the project can prevent this from happening and keep our people safe,” he said in his Facebook page.

He also informed that Block E is under construction from Tebelu to Kampung Seberang which started at the end of last year.

“Block D has also been underway from last year while Block A Phase 1 next to Sebangan/Bajong started in October 2020.

“Block A Phase 2 from Bajong towards Kampung Lutong/Pasar Sebangan/Sungai Menek is still under evaluation before appointing a suitable contractor,” said Julaihi.

He added that all the flood mitigation projects are scheduled to complete in 24 months starting from the date the contract work begins for all blocks along the 25 km stretch from Sebangan to Sg Rama.
