DEBAK: The RM30-million flood mitigation project in Debak is expected to be tendered by no later than May or June this year, said Saribas assemblyman Mohammad Razi Sitam.

“Flash floods are due to heavy rains and high tide phenomenon and they have caused a lot of problems for residents here.

“Therefore, I hope that the flood mitigation project that was proposed and approved by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg could be completed in a timely manner,” he said.

He said this to reporters after attending the MyRakyat: Bazaar Rakyat programme at Reveria Sports Centre Debak on Sunday (April 11).

He added that the survey team have completed their research and are gathering documents for the tender process.

When asked about the progress of the Suri-Tuie road project, Razi stated that, as a whole, the construction of the basic structure from both directions (Suri and Tuie) is almost completed.

However, Razi said the project had to be rescheduled because of the enforcement of the movement control order (MCO) due to Covid-19 which delayed the project for almost six months

“I have not been informed of the new completion date after the rescheduling but I hope the 9.4-kilometre road at a cost of more than RM42 million can be completed soon,” Razi said.
