Flood situation in Marudi remains unchanged

MARUDI: The flood situation here remains unchanged for the past 24 hours.

A flood patrol, conducted by Marudi firemen on Monday night, found that the Baram River has overflowed to major surrounding areas.

The number of flood victims re-located to two temporary evacuation centres (PPS) — Marudi Civic Centre and SMK Telang Usan — is 40 (12 families).

Miri Fire and Rescue Department Zone Six chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said there are currently 23 people (eight families) at Marudi Civic Centre PPS.

“The number of flood victims at SMK Telang Usan PPS is 17 (four families),” he added.

In Long Ekang, Baram, floodwaters have gradually receded as of yesterday (Sept 7) morning.
