Flood victims receive help from NGOs

The flood victims receive aid from three NGOs.

KUCHING: The flood victims at the Dewan Kampung Bangka Semong temporary relief centre, Kota Samarahan recently received help from three non-government organisations (NGOs).

The NGOs were Kenyalang Prodigy, Enlight Malaysia and Pimpin Sarawak who distributed aid in the form of food supplies and personal essentials.

Programme coordinator Muhammad Nur Fawwiz said the relief mission was aimed at easing the burden of flood victims.

“Today, we together with three NGO volunteers, distributed the aid to flood victims at the centre.

“When the area is flooded, it is definitely difficult for the victims, especially the elderly and children, to get personal hygiene facilities,” he said when met on Saturday (Feb 6).

Muhammad said the aid distributed to 23 flood victims from seven families included soaps, shampoos, toothbrushes, toothpastes and sanitary napkins. On Friday night (Feb 5), flood victims at the centre as well as three other temporary relief centres at Dewan Suarah Kota Samarahan, Dewan Kampung Rimba Padi dan Dewan Kampung Betong Kanowit received aid in the form of cash from Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang
