KUCHING: Dudong assemblyman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has assured that he will liaise with the relevant parties to resolve the issue of flooding around Lorong Old Oya 22 in Sibu.

“This would include obtaining the appropriate allocation to improve what is needed, such as raising the main road to five feet,” he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Jan 15).

Tiong shared that after receiving flood complaints from residents of Lorong Old Oya 22 on Friday, he had gone down to the ground to review the situation there.

“I found that this area was flooded with the water of Seduan River following the continuous rainfall that caused the main road in this area to be flooded up to two to three feet,” he said.

He said the area covered the districts of Dudong, Nangka, and Bukit Assek.

“I do not want the residents, including the children, to have to wade through the overflowing river every day to get to school. This is a very sad thing and it needs to be resolved immediately,” said Tiong.
