KUCHING: The distribution of food supply to the longhouses affected by the lockdown order in Marudi constituency has been continued by the authorities.
Local Government Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil said this was in view of the extension of the movement restrictions on the area.
“Food supply has been distributed to the dwellers of Rumah Chabu at Lepong Ajai; Rumah Anthony Ladi at Sungai Liam; Rumah Apol, Sungai Liam; SK Sungai Liam, Rumah Justine at Sungai Entulang and SK Sungai Entulang by the Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC).
“The food supply has been added for the villagers as the movement restriction period for the longhouses affected in the area is extended,” he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Jan 26).
Penguang thanked the Miri DDMC and urged the longhouse dwellers to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and heed the directives from the authorities on the ground.
Earlier this month, multiple longhouses in the constituency were put under lockdown as a prevention measure to curb the spread of Covid-19 following cases that were linked to the Pasai Cluster in Sibu.
The Marudi assemblyman, last week said the constituency’s service centre was also assisting in terms of food supply, distributing additional food to complement those which had been distributed by the Miri DDMC.
Besides food supply, Penguang said powdered milk and diapers were also distributed to the longhouses by the Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Child Development Ministry.
