Food aid distribution in Lundu

LUNDU: A total of 374 household heads (KIR) in Lundu District received food aid under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) 6.0 package today (June 8).

Tanjung Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu said a total of 5,710 KIR in the district will receive the food aid.

She added that this was the initiative of the Sarawak government in helping the people by providing assistance in the form of food essentials to KIR throughout the state.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), she said that the distribution of the food baskets will be done in stages.

“The distribution of the food aid in stages commenced yesterday (Monday) and is estimated to be completed by Wednesday through the respective community leaders and heads of housing areas,” she said during a symbolic handover ceremony to three villages in Lundu District today.

The three villages in Lundu District were Kampung Sileng Dayak (96 KIR), Kampung Semunin Cina (47 KIR), and Kampung Stunggang Melayu Baru (231 KIR).

She said recipients of the food aid in Tanjung Datu constituency were divided into three zones, namely Lundu Zone (2,555 KIR from 43 villages, housing areas, and quarters), Sampadi Zone (730 KIR from 13 villages), and Sematan Zone (1,301 KIR from 17 villages).
