Food aid distribution to complete tomorrow

KAPIT: Distribution of food aid statewide under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) package is expected to be completed today.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg revealed that today, the various divisional disaster management committees had reported that 175,916 households statewide had received the aid.

“I am happy to share here that six state constituencies have achieved 100 percent distribution. These areas are Satok, Asajaya, Sadong Jaya, Sebuyau, Bukit Saban and Pelawan.

“All the assemblymen, civil service officers, assemblymen service centres, local leaders and volunteers are working hard to ensure all targeted households receive the food aid.

“By tomorrow (June 11), for Kapit, 28,118 households will receive food aid and we also expect the completion of distribution throughout the state,” he said during his visit here today.

He thanked the food supply chain sub-committee led by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

He also expressed his appreciation to local councils, divisional disaster management committees, community leaders, JKKKs, NGOs as well as all relevant federal and state government agencies.

“Their commitment and cooperation ensured all the communities, especially those in hard-to-reach areas, receive their food aid on time.”
