KABONG: A total of 100 members from the Sarawak Single Mothers Association (Pitsa) Kabong branch recently received basic food necessities.

Pitsa stated that this is the second time the contribution was channelled to its members since the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) on May 29.

Pitsa Saratok branch advisor and coordinator, councillor Dayang Rosnah Abang Darshid said the contribution was presented to Pitsa Kabong branch chairman Shamsiah Ali.

“The pandemic has affected most Malaysians especially single mothers who have lost their jobs and source of income. This has resulted in some of them losing their daily food supply.

“The association is very concerned with the needy, so the food basket initiative provides necessities such as rice, sugar, coffee, tea, milk, noodles and bread.

“We understand that single mothers are among those who are affected by the implementation of MCO. We hope that at least the contribution can ease the burden of Pitsa Kabong branch members who are affected by the pandemic,” she said in a statement on Sunday (June 27).

Dayang Rosnah said that her party also recently presented contributions to single mothers who are members of Pitsa Krian branch.

She said such assistance is very important to help single mothers especially those who have families and many dependents.

“Single mothers are among the most affected because on average they depend on their daily income through sales and small business.

“We hope that more can come forward to contribute to the less fortunate. This will encourage charitable activities throughout the districts,” she said.
