MUKAH: The government is committed to alleviating the people’s burden, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic, said Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib.

The deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) said this included the distribution of food baskets to those in need.

“We will do our best. The assistance could be in any form,” she added during a visit to a food basket distribution centre at Dewan Kampung Kuala Lama Mukah here on Monday (Aug 9).

Hanifah said the distribution of the food basket aid would focus on the rural areas before moving on to the urban areas.

During the visit, she also expressed grateful that the aid was distributed to those in need accordingly while ensuring all officers strictly complying to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“The community must work together to support the government’s effort in combating the Covid-19 pandemic. This is to enable the situation return to normalcy to enjoy the economic and social lives again.”
