KUCHING: A total of 4,000 people in Asajaya have received food and face masks under the Sarawakku Sayang Aid Package through the local District Office.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who is also Asajaya assemblyman, said the assistance was to ease the burden of the people in over 30 villages in his constituency.

“We have been helping our people, especially those living outside the city, who are immobile due to the movement control order (MCO). They have not been able to earn their living and buy essential goods,” he said when visiting the relief distribution centre on Friday.

He said the distribution that start last Friday would be carried out in stages, so he urged the villagers to be patient while waiting for their supplies.

“I urge them to continue obeying the MCO which has been extended to April 28. We are thankful that there has been no positive case of Covid-19 in Asajaya at the moment,” he said.

He thanked the District Office which is assisted by volunteers to pack and distribute of food aid.
